Six issues. The evidence on each.
Immigration and Islamism, crime, the economy, wasteful spending, energy and Victoria under Labor, audited from the primary record. Each piece states the government's best case, then tests it.
Twelve years of Labor government in Victoria, under Daniel Andrews, Jacinta Allan and now Premier Ben Carroll: the largest state debt in Australia, crime 13% higher than three years ago, a Melbourne that feels less safe, and major projects billions over budget. The record, issue by issue.
Who is coming, from where, and how they are checked. Islamist terrorism and its links to the migration and humanitarian programs, and how far Australia has followed Europe and the United States in changing course.
Victoria's crime wave, youth offending and bail, the surge in antisemitic attacks and foreign-directed violence, and whether the response has matched the threat.
The big economic questions: living standards going backwards per person, rates and the cost of living, the housing crisis, tax, and the productivity collapse underneath it all.
Where the money goes: the spending ratchet and the debt it leaves, public money for activist causes, welfare rules nobody wants to examine, and the programs that grew fastest with least control.
Closing reliable power stations before the replacements exist, the gas shortfall, the cost of the transition, and who pays for it on the power bill.
How we work
The government's best case first. Then the evidence.
Every piece puts the strongest case for the policy in good faith before testing it against the budget papers, the ABS, the RBA, police and court records. Popular claims get the same test: where they hold up we say so, and where they don't we say that too.
